 Implementation of an ammonia purification facility
The semiconductor industry requires, as many other industries, various chemicals in its manufacturing processes. Certain chemicals are used more than others, such as ammonia.
Why does a company like Altis use this chemical? Ammonia is used to clean and prepare the surface of silicon wafers which are treated to be made into semiconductors. Altis' use of ammonia registers in the tons, which is quite a leap from household waste! The waste produced by Altis is transported to the urban purification facility, which represents a large amount of additional waste for it.
Altis is concerned about the environment and therefore implemented an ammonia treatment facility on its site in order to reduce this waste. The facility is particularly innovative since its process involves concentrating the waste from production lines in order to obtain a solution with a concentration of 150g/l, which can be transported more easily and, as a result, recovered subsequently. As a result, toxic waste has been reduced by 40% without a chemical reaction or bacteria treatment.
